“The Experience” Celebrates the Unity and Accomplishments within the AVUHSD!
Students, staff, and the community took over the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds to celebrate the programs, extracurriculars, and people that make the district unique at “The Experience” on May 8. Aptly named for its engaging setting, the inaugural event was buzzing with energy as the AVUHSD collaborated to curate an exciting experience for their peers and visitors alike.
The Van Dam Pavilion housed multiple resources and programs offered across the district to support and influence student success. Students and parents could find more information on arts education, multilingual programs, alternative education, career tech education, and more.
Across the way, the Hunter Pavilion boasted immersion and interaction. Robotics teams drove around their small machines while drones filled the air in interesting formations. Students learned about what it takes to build projects like a solar-powered car or a functioning motorcycle. Biomedical programs and the Public Service Academy drew in attendees with their complex and interactive displays of physical health and anatomy.

On the other side of the room, media booths showed off their music and broadcasting set ups. Face painting and Connect 4 boosted connectivity among the crowds. From school clubs and organizations to athletics and e-sports, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Outside, talented performance groups graced the stage with beautiful routines running from a number of genres. Throughout the performances, fireside chats split the time to give parents more information on the purpose and function of many programs and resources available to them. Livestock also roamed the area accompanied by Future Farmers of America students.
Delicious food trucks lined up outside with tacos, ice cream, aguas frescas, and other fun treats for sale. They were joined by the district’s very own Food Services department, who gave samples of a fan-favorite orange chicken lunch.
This end-of-year celebration was a chance for the district to unite and acknowledge the wonderful opportunities under the AVUHSD umbrella. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this first-of-its-kind event! “The Experience” was a great success, and we are incredibly grateful for your support and participation!
