We had an amazing time celebrating different cultures and traditions during the district’s inaugural AANHPI Heritage Celebration on May 22! As part of AANHPI Heritage Month, this event showcased many of the incredible flavors, dance styles, and artistry that comes from our Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

Students performed traditional dances from the Philippines, Hawaii, Fiji, and India in addition to new-school dances from Korea. Participating seniors were also awarded with a medallion to wear during graduation that signifies their commitment to proudly sharing their AANHPI culture with their schools throughout their high school journey.

As we wrap up AANHPI Month, we want to thank all the talented dancers from Highland, Knight, and SOAR Palmdale for sharing their cultural knowledge with our community and give a special shout out to our amazing site and district staff for helping us celebrate the powerful diversity of AVUHSD!
