Attendance Awareness Month
Get Ready for Attendance Awareness Month at the AVUHSD!
Starting Friday, August 30, 2024, the AVUHSD is kicking off Attendance Awareness Month! This is our time to emphasize how important it is to be in school every single day!
Attendance Awareness Month has been going strong since 2011, thanks to the Attendance Works campaign. The goal is to help everyone understand the impact of chronic absenteeism on students. Studies show that students who regularly attend school are more likely to succeed academically. That’s why it is so important for parents, guardians, and students to prioritize attendance.
September lays the foundation for the rest of the school year. Research shows that students with good attendance in September are more likely to thrive all year long. Just missing two or more days in September can be a sign that a student might struggle with attendance later on.
We know that good attendance matters, and tackling this issue requires teamwork. The AVUHSD will be closely monitoring attendance, and setting clear goals to improve attendance across the district.
Join the AVUHSD in making sure every student understands that attendance is a key to success!
