AVUHSD is proud to celebrate and uplift student artistry and success in the arts! This May, recent Eastside High School graduate Pierre Pigues Jr. was selected as a finalist for the SoCal Beat Battle Young Artist Competition! Out of 1,400 Southern California submissions, he was one of three finalists who placed in the vocalist category. 

Pierre, who goes by the stage name ThatBoyHeat, was recognized for his freestyle track titled, “Welcome to Heatville.” During his time at Eastside, he was also part of the Sound Engineering Production class where he honed his talents and expanded on his production knowledge. 

“Pierre is a super talented young artist and producer that has spent this year creating and releasing new music, performing all over the valley, and even composing original compositions for this year’s Student Film Festival,” said Eastside Sound Engineering Instructor DaJuan Cowan in an email.

Accompanied by Mr. Cowan, Pierre accepted his award at the Los Angeles Spotify headquarters last month in a ceremony presented by the YoungProducersGroup and Soundtrap.
