GALLERY: Annual Teen Talk Encourages Community Between Student Leaders and Law Enforcement
A group of AVUHSD students had the opportunity to make connections with law enforcement and the justice department on April 10 during the annual Teen Talk Summit. This event encourages understanding and meaningful conversations between kids and their local law enforcement officers to work towards the betterment of the community together.
Students were able to participate in roundtable discussions with officers to ask them a wide range of questions about their jobs and experiences. They also sat in on workshops about human trafficking, impaired driving, and the local justice department. Opportunities such as this allow our students to take an active role in community safety while they learn about different perspectives and pathways.
Thank you to Future Leaders California, the Lancaster Police Department, the LA County Sheriff Department, and all of our AVUHSD teachers and staff who helped facilitate this informative day of connection for our students!
