LACOE Case Study Names Littlerock High As Model Community School
One of our AVUHSD community schools has been recognized for their work in serving their community’s needs! Littlerock High School is one of three community schools highlighted in a new case study conducted by the WestEd research organization in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). This report cites schools supported by LACOE’s Community Schools Initiative and their successful implementation strategies, presenting Littlerock as a model of the program’s standards.
In a news release, LACOE writes, “Despite long-standing challenges such as geographic isolation, limited economic opportunity and access to resources, Littlerock High School has become a trusted resource hub for its students, families and broader community. Centrally located within an underresourced region of L.A. County, the school leveraged its location to connect students and families with essential services. The case study explores how Littlerock created a culture of care that extends beyond the campus by becoming a hub for community connection and support. It offers inspiring insights for other schools that aim to strengthen their ties to their communities, demonstrating that resilience, creativity and dedication can lead to meaningful change.”
Located in a geographically dispersed region, Littlerock High School has become a trusted destination for the entire community, offering food distributions, a clothing closet and mental health counseling to those with and without direct ties to the campus Through supports such as the Family Resource Center and Wellness Center, Littlerock High School provides a warm, welcoming environment where families feel welcomed and respected.
Congratulations to the incredible team at Littlerock High School! We are proud to have this campus represent AVUHSD and honor our commitment to our students, families, and communities.
