Recognizing National Foster Care Awareness Month with Independent City!

Over the weekend, students gathered at Lancaster High School for another year of Independent City! This special event brings together our foster youth and youth experiencing homelessness to navigate a mock city as they learn how to prepare for living independently.

As we recognize May as National Foster Care Awareness Month, this event served as a powerful way to celebrate and uplift our youth. To continue our support throughout the month, we encourage everyone to wear blue each Friday this month to show solidarity and support for foster youth awareness.

AVUHSD would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the incredible presence, participation, generous donations, and commitment of our staff and supporters as we worked to make a profound impact on our students. Your involvement reflects the deep care and dedication our entire community holds for their success!
