Space Camp Shows AVUHSD To Aim For The Stars

Our AVUHSD students aimed for the stars this summer as they participated in Space Camp with support from the Paul George Foundation! The PG 8 Space Crew spent a week this June at the Advanced Space Academy learning about space through immersive and exciting lessons!

12 students and a teacher chaperone from Knight, Palmdale, and Highland visited the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, with many of them applying their practical CTE knowledge in this interactive experience.

This camp gave our students the opportunity to learn firsthand from astronauts and other aerospace professionals. Among their activities, they participated in scuba diving, ziplining, miniature rocket launches, an anti-gravity machine test, and a practice-run in a model mission-control room.

On their camp graduation day, our amazing students were also recognized with the Outstanding Team Award, marking a first for a team from the Antelope Valley!

Thank you to the incredible chaperones and the Paul George Foundation for making this incredible experience possible for our students! We are grateful for opportunities that allow us to foster our students’ creativity and innovative minds.

One of our wonderful teacher chaperones spoke with the AV Press with our teacher chaperones and students about this extraordinary camp! Check out the article here: https://www.avpress.com/news/taking-flight-at-space-camp/article_98a0e7c0-acbe-4f29-8711-6ba0b965fd3c.html
