Take 2 to Prevent Suicide – Protective Factors
Last week, we shared warning signs and risk factors associated with suicide.
This week, we would like to share some protective factors. Simply put, protective factors are things we can learn, do, or engage in, that can reduce the chances that something bad happens. This document shows how impactful our relationships (peer-to-peer AND peer-to-adult) are; this is why we ask you to Take 2.
Take 2…
•To be a good friend
•To take threats of suicide seriously
•To have the courage to ask if your friend is thinking of ending their life
•To never promise to keep a threat of suicide secret
•To avoid being judgmental and overly critical
•To think about what you post on Instagram or other social media
•To get your friend the help they need
