‘We Come From Greatness, Vol. 2’ Highlights Student Voices

The Migrant Education Program celebrated the debut of ‘We Come From Greatness, Vol.2’, a compilation of student stories, poems, and artwork embodying their unique journeys and perspectives. During a ceremony this week, students got onstage to read their powerful stories and poems to their families in the audience.

With help from their teachers, the featured students wrote about their meaningful connections with family, teachers, and friends that inspire them to strive for greatness. The book also contains portraits of their loved ones by other artists in the district, demonstrating the vast talents of our students.

Thank you to AVUHSD Superintendent Greg Nehen, Cielito Lindo Books Publisher Leticia Ordaz, and Dr. Mirna Miranda-Welsh representing the LACOE Migrant Education Program for making this event a memorable, emotionally uplifting experience for all students and parents. Special thanks to Dr. David Dustan, Ana Pena-Lourdes, Lorena Durr, Lourdes Bravo, Andrea Bolanos, Jazzi Mejia, Lizbet Dunning, Pablo Andrade, Yuquie Urias, and the rest of the AV Migrant Education Program for their part in showcasing our students’ perspectives and encouraging our students to shine!
